  • The certification exam is a closed-book, one-hour exam consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions.

    A score of 55% or higher is required to achieve a Pass. Students who score a 70% to 84% are awarded a Pass with Merit and students who score an 85% or higher are awarded a Pass with Distinction.

    In order to be successful on your exam, it is recommended that you allocate at least 11 hours to review of your course book and course materials.

  • The WSET Level 2 in Sake Course includes 5 weeks of learning organized into 6 different modules including:

    • Introduction to sake

    • How is sake made?

    • After fermentation

    • Sake labels and style

    • Serving, storing, and pairing

    • Exam Review

    As the learning is self-directed, you will login and work through the course on your own schedule. Your study is guided by an educator for the duration of the 5-week course. After course end, you’ll continue to have access to the course static content for 1 year. 

  • The WSET Level 2 in Sake Course is a structured and expansive look at sake production and styles. Through this course, you will come to understand: the impact of sake base ingredients and brewing methods on style and quality, the diversity of styles and categories of sake, and the role of storage and service. You’ll also grow your evaluative tasting skills using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting.

  • Yes, students receive a list of recommended sake styles at the start of the course and are guided through the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting as part of their studies. Tasting sake in this course reinforces what you’re learning and also elevates your evaluative tasting skills.

  • Your tuition includes the WSET Level 2 in Sake Course Study Pack (Looking Behind the Label textbook, study guide, and Systematic Approach to Tasting Card), which is shipped to you at registration. Also included is certification exam, WSET Level 2 in Sake Certificate, and Badge.

  • The one-hour, closed-book exam, 50-question exam is taken online at the completion of the course and must be ordered in advance. Exams are offered on the 1st Sunday of every month or by appointment.
