  • Our WSET Level 1 in Wine educators combine deep knowledge and industry experience with an engaging and interactive teaching style. There’s a lot to learn in WSET Level 1, but you’re here because you love the topic. Our teaching styles underscores the inherent joy in learning about wine. 

  • The 30-question, multiple-choice, closed-book exam is offered at the end of class. Students who score 70% or higher will be WSET Level 1 in Wine Certified.

  • If you’re ready to start your wine education journey, but want to learn on your own schedule, The WSET Level 1 in Wine Online Course is for you!

  • The course is organized into 5 learning modules released over 4 weeks. Learning is asynchronous, so you can log in anytime and work through the course on your own schedule. Although the active course is completed after 4 weeks, you’ll have access to the static content for one year.

  • Course tuition includes your course workbook, An Introduction to Wine, available for download in your course. Tuition also includes your exam fee, WSET Level 1 in Wine Certificate, and Badge.

  • In this 4-week course, you’ll dive into the foundations of wine, exploring how grape variety, growing conditions, and winemaking impact a wine’s style. You’ll also learn to evaluate wine using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting and how wine storage, service, and pairing impact a wine’s aromas and palate.

    WSET Level 1 in Wine Course Specification

  • Yes, wine tasting is recommended as part of the course, but wine samples are not included in your tuition. The list of recommended wine styles is provided at the beginning of the class. Although there are wine kits (tiny wine bottles) on the market, for more accurate representations, we recommend buying full or half bottles and enjoying the remainder. 

  • The 45-minute exam is comprised of 30 multiple-choice questions. Exams are taken online under exam conditions and must be ordered at least 2 weeks before the scheduled exam date (exam sign up link provided at registration). Exams are offered the 1st Sunday of every month or by appointment).

    Students who score 70% or higher will be WSET Level 1 in Wine Certified.
